Honor Guard

A Sheriff’s Honor Guard is a unit within a Sheriff’s Office that represents the department and the law enforcement profession at various ceremonial eventsThey are typically composed of sheriff officers who volunteer their time and are chosen for their high standards of appearance, conduct, and aptitude for ceremonial duties. 

 Key Functions of a Sheriff’s Honor Guard:
  • Representing the Office of the Sheriff:

    They serve as the formal representative of the Sheriff’s Office at public events, funerals, memorials, parades, and other special occasions. 

     
  • Providing Funeral Honors:

    They participate in funeral services for fallen law enforcement officers and other public servants, offering a dignified and respectful tribute. 

     
  • Presenting Colors:

    They often participate in ceremonies by presenting the flag of the United States and the department’s flag. 

     
  • Maintaining High Standards:

    They are expected to maintain exceptional standards of appearance, conduct, and professionalism, both on and off duty. 

     
  • Training and Special Drills:

    They undergo rigorous training in specific drills, including marching, rifle manual, flag ceremonies, and other ceremonial movements. 

     
  • Reflecting Dignity and Respect:
    They are tasked with upholding the highest traditions of law enforcement, including professionalism, integrity, dignity, and respect.
